Public Records Requests
In July 2016, Governor Charlie Baker signed Chapter 121 of the Acts of 2016, An Act to Improve Public Records, which strengthened the Massachusetts Public Records Law. More information is available from the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
How to Submit a Public Records Request
All non-public-safety public records requests for the Town of Bridgewater should be emailed to:
Email: publicrecords@bridgewaterma.org
Public safety-related requests should be submitted directly through the Fire or Police Records Request links below.
To help us respond efficiently, please include:
- A detailed description of the records requested
- A date range, if applicable
- The department or departments involved, if known
After an initial review, requests are forwarded to the appropriate department for processing. Departmental Records Access Officers are responsible for locating and providing requested records or estimating the time needed to fulfill a request.
Any applicable fees are calculated by the Records Access Officer Coordinator based on departmental time estimates and in accordance with the Massachusetts Public Records Law.
The publicrecords@bridgewaterma.org email inbox, including coordinating responses, is managed by Kajelyn Beardsley, Executive Assistant to the Town Manager and Records Access Officer Coordinator.
Response Format
The default response format is an electronic copy of the requested records sent by email, unless they are housed in a different format. Printed copies may be available for a fee.
Vital Records
This office does not process requests for birth, death, or marriage records. Please visit the Town Clerk’s Birth, Death, or Marriage Records page for instructions.
