Handicapped or Blind Exemption Application

Before you begin your application:
• Filing of this application does not stay collection of the tax as billed.
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
A new bill will not be issued.
• When applying for an adjustment, it is the applicant's responsibility to contact us for a new amount.
• Refunds will be issued for overpayments.


Please Note: No excise may be reduced to less than $5.00. No abatement for less than $5.00 will be
granted and no refund of less than $5.00 will be made.

LEASED VEHICLES
- If the excise tax you are applying for an abatement on was for a vehicle you
leased, please do not apply. The leasing company must apply for the abatement because the leasing
company was the registered owner. Contact the leasing company for a refund to you.

This exemption is available to a person who has suffered either (a) an actual loss of or a permanent and complete loss of use of both legs or both arms or (b) a permanent vision impairment of both eyes of the magnitude set out in Ch. 60A section 1.

This exemption is restricted for each handicapped person to one vehicle at a time, owned and registered by the person for personal, non-business use.
