WINTER STORM UPDATE - 5PM

Town Hall and all non-public-safety municipal offices will remain closed on Wednesday, February 25th, so we can continue to focus on our public roadways. We will resume normal operating hours on Thursday. During this time, staff will be as responsive as possible and provide any support that we can remotely.

The Town is aware that several side roads need to be plowed. We will continue through the evening to ensure all roadways are opened, and we expect to begin widening the roads tomorrow. Our DPW crews and contractors are working diligently to complete this work as safely and quickly as possible. If you have any concerns about your street, you can contact the Highway Department at 508-697-0931. You can also contact my office at 508-697-0919.

Here are a few brief comments and reminders:

During this time, we encourage people to continue staying off the roads if possible and to limit unnecessary travel, please. Even though the Governor has lifted the travel ban, it is absolutely critical so we can do the cleanup work we must do.

Although power restoration is largely complete on National Grid’s end, we still encourage the community to check in on neighbors, especially our senior citizens. For any immediate emergencies requiring Police or Fire, please call 911.

Chief Schlatz is asking our community to help keep our fire hydrants clear. Our teams will do their best efforts to do this work, but we’re asking for your assistance as well.

As a side note, while traveling through the community to survey some of our roads with our Highway Superintendent, I was encouraged by what I saw. Community members helping one another, DPW staff and public safety officials assisting residents, and a shared understanding and appreciation of the effort involved all show how much we care about this community. Your support and understanding, along with the willingness to help one another strengthen our community, and I truly appreciate that, as does our team.

There is a lot of work to be done over the next several days, and unfortunately, additional snow is forecast for our region, but we will continue to work hard for you. I continue to thank all our team members who have been critical to this storm’s response for their hard work and dedication.
