The Zoning Department provides administrative and technical support to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) and guidance to property owners and applicants. 

The Zoning Department manages and coordinates petition-related activities, provides public information on the required procedures, and assists applicants with submitting applications or appeals to the ZBA.

Inquiries

Questions regarding filing a petition before the Appeals Board, filing deadlines, the status of a decision, or viewing ZBA files should be directed to the Community and Economic Development office.

Inquiries about the zoning ordinances, zoning determinations, and legal zoning status should be directed to the Building Department.

Zoning Department Procedures

To help residents and interested parties better understand how the Zoning Department operates, below are some general operations that the staff perform daily:

  • Find the Town of Bridgewater Zoning Ordinances - HERE
  • Applicants/Representatives are responsible for sharing all materials in Zoom meetings.
  • Meeting agendas are posted no later than the Friday preceding the next Zoning Board of Appeals meeting.
  • Notices of upcoming meetings and hearings are sent to all required departments at least one week before a scheduled Zoning Board of Appeals meeting whenever possible.
  • All documents (including decisions, minutes, notices, etc.) are reviewed by the Community & Economic Development Director or the Zoning Enforcement Officer before distribution.
  • All approved decisions are sent electronically to the Building Department and/or the Board of Health.

ZBA Agendas & Minutes

 Agendas are available before the meetings. Minutes are available following approval.

Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
