Bridgewater uses an online permitting system for all applications submitted and reviewed by the Building Department. All new applicants must also first register to be able to apply for a permit. Please see our instructions how to apply for a permit if this is your first time applying.

• The Town of Bridgewater uses an electronic permitting system.
• Contractors and homeowners must apply online.
• To prevent delays in processing, please ensure that applications are complete before submission.
• Applicants may pay for permits online (a small convenience fee applies).
• Paper applications are accepted; however, an additional $50 administrative fee will be applied.
• A permit card must be in hand before any work may begin. Failure to comply may result in a triple permit fee penalty.
• Archived physical files may require up to 48 hours for retrieval. Please call the office before visiting.
• Archived electronic permit information is available through the online system.

All Permits must be paid in full.  All permits are mailed to the address noted in section 4 of the application, unless otherwise notified. To arrange picking up the permit card, please get in touch with the Building Department at 508-697-0904.   A permit card must be in hand before any work may begin. Failure to comply may result in the assessment of a triple permit fee penalty.

Zoning Determination

To request a zoning determination, applicants must complete the Zoning Determination Request Form and return it to the Building Department.
