Extreme Heat Safety & Water Conservation Reminder

As Massachusetts experiences extreme heat this week and residents enjoy Fourth of July celebrations, the Town of Bridgewater encourages residents to take steps to stay safe and continue conserving water.

Bridgewater Heat Wave Water Conservation

Heat Safety

High temperatures can lead to heat-related illness, particularly for older adults, young children, and those with chronic medical conditions. Please check in on family members, friends, and neighbors during the heat wave.

If someone experiences symptoms such as confusion, slurred speech, a very high body temperature, loss of consciousness, hot and dry skin, or excessive sweating, call 911 immediately and stay with them until help arrives.

When possible, stay in an air-conditioned space during the hottest part of the day. If you must be outdoors, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade, use sunscreen, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.

Water Conservation Reminder

As temperatures rise and water demand increases, the Town asks residents to continue conserving water. The mandatory ban on all non-essential outdoor water use remains in effect.

Residents can also help reduce demand on the water system by taking simple steps such as keeping showers shorter, running only full loads of laundry and dishes, fixing leaks when possible, and limiting unnecessary water use.
