About the Parks and Recreation Commission

The Parks and Recreation Commission advises and assists the Town Manager on the use, maintenance, and development of parks, athletic fields, recreational areas, and related recreation programs across Bridgewater.

Purpose

The Parks and Recreation Commission advises and assists the Town Manager in establishing rules and regulations governing the use and maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, parks, recreational areas, and golf courses.

The Commission also advises on the development, servicing, and delivery of active and passive recreational activities throughout the Town.

The Parks and Recreation Commission serves as an advisory committee of the Town.

Commission Responsibilities

• Advise on rules and regulations for Town parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, recreational areas, and golf courses.
• Support the development and delivery of active and passive recreation programs.
• Oversee the Olde Scotland Links Golf Course and develop policy recommendations concerning golf operations.
• Provide for a Golf Advisory Committee of no more than five members, subject to appointment by the Town Manager upon the Commission’s recommendation.
• Develop and recommend rules and procedures for the operation of the Town’s fisheries.
• Oversee the Fisheries Committee, consisting of no more than three members, subject to approval by the Town Manager.
• Advise the Town Manager on the development and content of the Town’s Recreation Plans.
