Before You Begin

Filing this application does not stay the collection of the tax as billed.
Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
A new bill will not be issued.
When applying for an adjustment, it is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the Assessor’s Office for the new amount due.
Refunds will be issued for overpayments.

Please Note

No excise may be reduced to less than $5.00. No abatement for less than $5.00 will be granted, and no refund of less than $5.00 will be made.

Leased Vehicles

If the excise tax you are applying to abate is for a leased vehicle, please do not apply. The leasing company must apply for the abatement because it was the registered owner.

Please contact the leasing company directly regarding any refund due to you.

1. Gift Receipt (with VIN Number, dote it and signatures of both parties)

AND

2. Registration/Plate cancellation receipt from the Registry of Motor Vehicles or new registration if the plate is transferred to another vehicle.
